Why this is happening

On 19 May 2026 the Cabinet agreed that government agencies in Bangkok work from home on Monday 12 October and on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 October. It also set special arrangements for Friday 16 October 2026 in Bangkok.

The Cabinet did this to ease traffic, to help delegates travel to the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund 2026, and to keep the visiting finance ministers and central bank governors safe.

Thammasat University set out how it will teach and work at Tha Prachan during the meetings in response.

Tuesday 13 October is already a public holiday.

The university announced these arrangements on 7 August 2026. This is an English translation of the Thai original.
