Kien is a writers' club. It publishes written work by Thammasat students with a focus on the humanities, so what appears is not limited to BIR or to politics.
How the club is organised
There are three roles, and members can hold more than one:
- Writers pitch and write the pieces
- Editors work with writers to sharpen drafts before publication
- Graphic designers give each piece its look on the page
The club publishes on a steady rhythm: articles every two weeks, and poetry once a month.
What Kien publishes
Recent work gives a fair sense of the range:
| Piece | What it is |
|---|---|
| The Salt of the Earth | A poem about potash mining in Dan Khun Thot, published with photography |
| Thai Foreign Relations during Thaksin's Premiership | A piece of political analysis |
| A Body, a Burden | An analysis of female bodily autonomy in Claudia Piñeiro's Elena Knows |
How to join
Follow @kien.club (opens in a new tab) on Instagram. The club recruits for all three roles and posts the application details there, along with everything it publishes.
