TU MUN
Thailand's first university Model United Nations club, running since 2011.
Thammasat University Model United Nations Club simulates United Nations bodies such as the Security Council and the General Assembly, and takes members to MUN events elsewhere. Established in 2011, it was Thailand's first university-level MUN club.
Its stated purpose is to help young people understand foreign affairs, cooperation, and sustainable development, and it works with the United Nations in Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to do it.
What Model UN involves
Each member is assigned a country and speaks for it in committee. Sessions follow the real format: opening statements, caucusing, negotiating with other delegations, then drafting and voting on resolutions. Model UN has been running in universities for over 70 years, and it is a hands-on way to build public speaking, research, negotiation, and formal writing skills while getting into the detail of a global issue.
