Course description

Dominating theories in international relations mostly assume decision-makers to be rational. What if human-beings are not rational or what if being rational requires certain cognitive and emotional components? Do we need an alternative explanation for state behaviour in international politics? This course introduces students to the subject of political psychology and international relations. The subjects under review include foreign policy decision-making, public opinion, ideology, emotion, and biases in international relations.
