In the first two weeks, install the TU Greats app, get your TU account working, register for courses and go to orientation. International students have extra steps.
Set up your university accounts
TU Greats app and virtual student ID
TU Greats is the university app. Install the student version from your phone's app store and sign in with your TU username. It holds your virtual student ID, your timetable and your registration payments. You also book counselling appointments in it.
TU account, email and Microsoft 365
Your TU account gives you a student email address ending in @dome.tu.ac.th, and Microsoft 365 and Google sign-in. The same username and password work for TU Wi-Fi. Reset a forgotten password at accounts.tu.ac.th (opens in a new tab). For other problems, message the TU ICT helpdesk on LINE at @icttuhelpdesk.
Check your @dome.tu.ac.th inbox often. The university and the BIR office send official notices there.
Student card and Bangkok Bank
Your student card is also a Bangkok Bank card. Tuition refunds are paid into the linked account once it is activated. Collect the card at the Bangkok Bank Tha Prachan branch, by the Tha Prachan gate, and activate the linked account there. See opening a bank account for the documents international students bring.
TU Wi-Fi
Connect to TU Wi-Fi with your TU username and password. See SIM cards and Wi-Fi for the networks and for eduroam.
Register for courses
Register online at reg.tu.ac.th (opens in a new tab) or in TU Greats. The Registrar's Office sets the dates, and the payment is made in TU Greats. You can add and drop courses in the first 14 days of the semester. See registering, adding and dropping courses for the credit limit and the deadlines.
Go to orientation
Orientation is usually held about a week before the semester starts. The BIR office announces the date and place on birpolsci.com (opens in a new tab) and on the BIR Program Facebook page. BIRSA also runs welcome events. Check What's on.
Find your classrooms before the first lecture. Do the journey from home to the Faculty of Political Science once, using the shuttle bus or the routes in getting to Tha Prachan.
Extra steps for international students
Before you land
Submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card up to 72 hours before you arrive. See getting your student visa. The route from the airport is in from the airport to Tha Prachan.
Get a registered Thai SIM
You need a Thai number for bank apps and PromptPay. Take your passport to an operator's shop. See SIM cards and Wi-Fi.
Check that TM30 is filed
Your landlord or accommodation provider must notify immigration of your address within 24 hours of your arrival. Ask for the receipt and keep it. You need it for visa extensions. See visa rules while you study.
Open a bank account
Ask the Registrar's Office for an enrolment letter (certificate of student status). Then follow opening a bank account.
Note your 90-day report date
Report your address to immigration every 90 days, counting from the day you entered Thailand. Set a reminder. The steps are in visa rules while you study.
Find help
Ask the BIR office about visas. Email bir@tu.ac.th or call 02-221-6111 ext. 3409. Exchange students contact the exchange coordinator at oiapolsc@tu.ac.th, ext. 3403. In an emergency call 1669 for an ambulance or 191 for the police, or see emergency contacts.
